Danielle Weatherly – Cedar City, Utah WORCS

Danielle Weatherly racing WORCS

Danielle and her Lucas Oil RZR XP 900Heading out to Utah, myself and the GMH Motorsports crew were a little nervous because of the weather report…. thunderstorms, rain and snow! Friday’s weather was crazy! There was rain, wind, hail, mud, and more mud. We were debating on whether or not to go out for practice because we did not want the race car to get covered in mud and cause a problem for race day with the electrical wiring or anything of the sort. We decided on taking the pit rzr out together, Mike in the driver’s seat, me in the passenger. It was a mud bath! Everything on us and the rzr was covered in thick mud! So to say the least I was now even more nervous for Saturday’s race.

Race day came and the rain was on and off, nothing too crazy luckily. My race came around and of course it starts pouring on the starting line, but after that it held up and hardly sprinkled. Engine’s roaring, I had my eyes locked on the flagger and as soon as he waived the green flag my foot was to the floor and I got the hole shot! My very first one, and it felt awesome!

The first section was the motor track and I was able to pull away from the other girls with my Lucas Oil track experience coming in handy. On the first lap about 5 minutes on there was a downhill straight away with two massive ski jumps, you could go full throttle going down it, and that was the part of the track I was looking forward to the most. I made my way down the hill and into a big sweeping left hand turn, going about 65-70mph on the turn, I come around the corner and there is a herd of cows taking up the entire track! My horn hadn’t been working so I let of the gas and started revving the motor in hopes the sound of my Dasa exhaust would scare them away. Thankfully it did and I was able to keep on movin’! By the end of the first lap I had put a 45 second gap in-between me and the rest of the women, so after that I was able to take it somewhat easy and just really focus on the track and how the RZR felt. I kept my lead for the entire race and brought home the gold!! It was an amazing race, and accomplishment especially with how nervous I was in the beginning.

This race weekend was a true test on the RZR and I am so grateful for all of our sponsors and the support they have given to make the GMH RZR a beast… GMH Motorsports, UTVunderground, PRP Seats, Dasa Racing, Holz Racing Products, SuperATV, GBC Motorsports, Method Race Wheels, Walker Evans Racing, Rigid Industries, Proline Wraps, Assault Industries, Active Screen Printing, Smittybuilt Engineering, Monster Seal, Webcam Shafts, WarfighterMade, Spectrum Mechanical, r2c Filters.
