Why Choose Custom UTV Door Bags?

CUSTOM UTV STORAGE BAGS ARE ALWAYS BETTER

Wouldn’t it be great if your UTV storage bags matched your seats or vehicle?

All-black door bags are a thing of the past with customization options from PRP!

Our front door bags are our most popular customized storage options, and now you can choose from more than 40 colors to design your UTV storage bags and make it yours by choosing vinyl colors that reflect your style and personality!

custom UTV Storage Bags

Select Your Door Bag’s Center Color

The center color will take up the most area on your door bag so it’s a good idea to decide if you want your main color to be neutral (black, white, gray) with a textured surface like our gator or ostrich vinyl or if you want to use this area for a bold statement.

customize your UTV Storage easy

Choose a Color For Your Door Bag’s Piping

For customizing your UTV storage bags’ piping, you’re going to pretty much do the opposite of whatever you decided for your center section. If you chose a neutral color for the center, choose a highlight color for your piping that matches your vehicle’s exterior and UTV seats or vice versa.

ORDER FREE FABRIC SAMPLES

If you can’t decide whether your bag would look best in Black Gator or Gray Ostrich (or any of the other many fabric and color choices), your best bet is to simply order some free samples and see for yourself which one you like best.

The best part – you don’t have to pay a single dollar for samples! You cover the measly $2 in shipping and we’ll send you out up to 5 color and fabric samples absolutely free!

How To Clean Your New Suspension Seats

Learn How to Clean and Care for Your Suspension Seats!

It has only been a few days since you installed your new PRP suspension seats and took them out on the trails for the first time. They are comfortable, supportive, and everything you hoped for when you designed them. You want to clean them and care for them the right way, so we put together a little howto just for you!

how to clean vinyl seats

HOW TO CLEAN VINYL SEATS

The best way to safely clean Marine Grade Vinyl is with warm dish soap and water. If you clean your suspension seats every few weeks, this method is the safest.

  • Make a solution of 1 gallon of water and 1/4 cup of mild soap.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe the vinyl in a circular motion, avoiding pooling water in the seams.
  • Rinse the seats with clean water and a clean cloth to remove excess soap.

With these steps, your custom seats should look fresh and clean! If you have a gnarly stain that just will not give way, try a few sprays of 409 Multi-Purpose Cleaner and that should do the trick.

How to clean suede seats

HOW TO CLEAN SUEDE SEATS

Can I clean my suede suspension seats the same way as vinyl seats?

Hard no!

Suede and water are not friends. Unlike fabric, suede stains when wet, so it takes a few specialty tools and tips to clean and maintain suede.

  • The first thing you should do when you receive your suede seats is treat them with a water-repellent spray to prevent future water stains.
  • Brush suede with a suede brush after riding and before cleaning. Brush in a downward motion pushing the dirt and debris away from you.
  • For tougher stains white vinegar or rubbing alcohol are great substitutes for water cleaning since you always want to stay away from water on suede suspension seats. Pour a little bit of white vinegar or rubbing alcohol on a washcloth and lightly rub the area. Let it dry completely and review. If the stain is gone, use your suede brush and retexturize the area with light strokes. Repeat this step if necessary, making sure to let the area dry completely before repeating.

Combined with Vinyl’s durability, this makes it the ideal material for building seats. Our Marine Grade Vinyl holds up best to all the punishment our seats undergo. UV-treated to maintain color, stain- and mildew-resistant, and abrasion-resistant: this material will last for years

Best Off-Road Tips for the Desert

Best Off-Road Tips for the Desert

Heading to the desert for the first time can be intimidating and, while there aren’t many “official” rules for off-roading in the desert, there are definitely some unwritten rules that you should learn.

Picking up on what the seasoned off-road veterans know by heart can be challenging, so we’ve put together a few tips to help you prepare for what’s ahead.

Be Aware of Your Surroundings

Reaction times can vary from one driver to the next, but behind the wheel it’s always important to act fast if you want to avoid colliding with another vehicle. Always stay alert and assume the worst case scenario – that there may be another driver over the next hill that may seemingly come out of nowhere.

Pace Yourself

There are major differences between driving on the road and riding in the sand, so it’s a good idea to pace yourself and get to know your vehicle first.

Until you feel absolutely comfortable, it’s a good idea to practice riding along the ridges while getting a feel for your vehicle’s speed, brakes, and turning.

Ride With A Group

Ride With A Group

If you are a first-time driver rider, we recommend you ride in riding with a group with and a leader who knows what they are doing in the desert.

You‘ll learn a lot from them and you‘ll be much safer.

Just don‘t be that guy who tries to keep up with the leader to the point of putting their safety at risk. At every fork in the road, wait for the rider behind you to confirm that they’re following the group.

There is safety in numbers and it’s worse to lose one car in the desert than to lose two.

Communicate With Other Riders

Let other riders know how many people are in your group while passing so that they know how many additional riders to expect. Sometimes two-way trails are tight with blind corners and only wide enough for one car at a time, so it can be sketchy if you’re both trying to get through the same trail at the same time.

Slowdown in the Desert Campgrounds

No one likes the guy who rips through the campsite without giving a damn about anyone else. If you want to pin it, ride away from the camp into the open desert.

Use an Off-Road Spotter

Always use a spotter while climbing blind hills. Jumping a hill without knowing what’s on the other side could easily result in a collision with someone coming the other way or parked over the crest.

Make sure you get the green light from your spotter for safe passage to help you avoid a crash.

stop to help others

Help Other Riders

When you see someone who you think might need assistance on the trail, help them. Taking the time to check for a thumbs up or down when passing by another rider can make a big difference in someone’s experience.

It could be a dangerous to find yourself stuck in the desert alone so taking a minute to make sure that a fellow rider isn’t broken down could be potentially life saving.

Just be sure to not compromise your own safety while doing so.

Pull Over Out of the Way

If you’re stopping for a break with a group, make sure you’re parked well off the trail to prevent crashes/injuries.

It’s easy to forget that you might be blocking the path of other riders while you’re hanging out with your buddies and you shouldn’t rely on other riders using spotters.

Be considerate of other riders

Be Considerate of Other Riders

Allow those approaching from behind to pass if you driving slower. If you must pass traffic, be respectful and do not dust them out.

Always Carry A Recovery Tow Strap

Although most people are willing to help, they may not always have the right equipment to do so.

Always have a tow strap and extra tools with you so that you don’t have to rely on other riders’ equipment in your time of need.

Always Carry A Tow Rope

Understand the Right of Way

Don’t start up a steep hill until the car in front makes it over. It is unlikely they will notice you charging up behind them if they don’t make it over and have to backup down the hill.

Uphill traffic always has the right of way.

Respect the Desert’s Locals

Don’t disrespect the towns and riding destinations. Be aware of speed limits and keep your noise to a minimum.

Before leaving, make sure to pick up all of your trash. Your goal should be to leave these towns “off-road friendly” and looking better than before you got there.

Be Prepared for Anything

Keep water and snacks with you while riding. You never know when you or someone in your group will break down and it’s always possible that you might be  spending hours sitting in the desert.

It’s always a good idea to have snacks and water on hand in case of emergency!

DON’T BE INTIMIDATED By The Desert

After your first trip into the desert, it’s likely to be the place that you’ll always want to come back to. Compared to the linear setup of traditional off-road trails, the desert offers an extremely open riding environment that’s always has more to offer.

Casey Simms WORCS Race Report

October 30, 2022 – Primm, NV – The 2022 WORCS season is in the books! I got on the road with my grandparents Thursday afternoon, arrived at Buffalo Bills in Primm, NV that evening, and we turned in for the night. I got checked in at registration on Friday morning, and when the rest of my team arrived, I unloaded my car and got ready for qualifying. Unfortunately, qualifying didn’t go as I had hoped, and I would start P8 for the short course race on Saturday. I made some adjustments on Friday night and felt better going into Saturday’s race.

Casey Sims racing Primm

I helped a few of my RZR 170 buddies on Saturday and then got ready for my race. When it was time, I went to line up. My class had ten cars, and I was starting in P8. We headed onto the course and followed the pace car around the track. As we rounded the last turn, the pace car exited, and the green flag flew. We all took off! I made a quick pass in the first lap and continued to race as fast as possible, paying close attention to the car in front of me. I was patient and calculated my next move as I passed that car, moving me into P6. I could fly through the whoop section, and coming out of the next turn, I made another pass, gaining another position. Then at the halfway mark, seven laps into the race, the pace car made its way back on the track for the mid-race restart. We all bunched back up in line and rounded the course. The green flag flew again, and we all took off! I was determined to keep moving myself up but stayed focused and patient. I could pass three more competitors during the next four laps, moving me into P2. I chased down the leader the last three laps of the race but couldn’t make the final pass. After 14 laps, I crossed the finish line in 2nd place, just one second behind P1. I was stoked with my podium finish!

After the race on Saturday, I got ready for practice on the desert course. I ran a few practice laps and got a good feel for the track. Then, I washed and prepped my car for the round 11 race on Sunday. I watched a few of the races before mine Sunday morning and then headed to the line that afternoon. Because I finished in P2 on Saturday, I was the second car to line up ow. I got ready, and we took off when the green flag flew! I was P2 off the line as we headed out into the desert. I stayed close to the car in front of me and kept a good pace through the dusty track. The second row took off two minutes behind mine, so I knew I had to stay ahead of the clock. As we came through the timing chute heading into lap two, my car was overheating. I pulled into the pits so my crew could figure out what it was. Everything seemed okay, so I took off to make up for my lost time. Shortly after leaving the pits, my car went into limp mode. I tried turning my car off and back on several times and finally got it reset. Coming through the timing chute going into lap 3, I was in P4. During lap 3, I ran the race’s fastest lap and moved into P3 at the corrected time. I ran lap four almost as fast as lap three and moved into P2. Then during lap 5, I blew a belt. I pulled off the course and got out to change it. Unfortunately, my clutch was stuck open, and I could not get it to release. I tried everything, but in the end, the WORCS officials towed me off the course. I was beyond upset after being so close to a podium finish with just 1 ½ laps to go. I did receive 7th place finishing points.

Casey Sims UTV Racing WORCS

I finished the WORCS season with an overall 5th place for the year. This season was full of ups and downs, but my team and I hung in there, and I am proud of what we accomplished. Top Requirements for UTV Racing

What Do You Need to Start UTV Racing?

Like anything done at the top level, it takes time, patience, and a lot of money to be the best. Do you think you have what it takes to race UTV’s?

We will go over the following items:

  • Building Your UTV
  • Selecting Your Class
  • Passing Tech
  • Pit Crew
  • Testing
  • Compete

BUILD YOUR SXS

You’ve just brought home your UTV and now it’s time to make it yours.

So, what’s next? Passing a tech inspection won’t be possible with stock safety configurations so you will need to make a few key changes before you can get down and dirty on the course with stock Can-Am X3s and Polaris RZRs.

invest in high-quality roll cages, helmets, window nets, racing harnesses, and racing seats to ensure your safety. Prioritizing your personal safety is always the upmost priority. Each racing sanction has it’s own rules and classes. There are some race promoters who require aftermarket fuel cells. Other requirements include horns, taillights, two-way radios, tracking systems, and other equipment you wouldn’t want to be without.

building your UTV

UTV CLASS SELECTION

Whether you want to ride short-course or desert, there is a class for you. Class selection is determined by age, driving skill level, vehicle type, and modifications.

Each event offers different classes, so be sure to determine which one best suits your ability and riding style. If you are new to UTV racing, we’d recommend trying a Sportsman or Production class to get a better idea of your skill level.

Choose Your UTV Class

PASSING TECH INSPECTION

Before you can race your UTV, you must pass a technical inspection. Not all races require the same inspections, so knowing the requirements ahead of arriving for to your race is crucial.

Vehicles that do not pass inspection will automatically be disqualified and you will have to try again. We recommend beginning with small dirt track races if you are a newcomer to UTV racing. Dirt Track events often since they requires fewer inspections than desert races.

GATHER YOUR PIT CREW

A podium finish in UTV racing requires a team effort, so grab your friends or your family because you’re going to need a pit crew!

Obviously, you won’t need an entire Nascar team, but you will need a few people who know what they’re doing. Always assemble a checklist of the items you need to bring to stay competitive in the race. Radio communication is crucial between you the driver and your team. Your pit team must be on stand-by with spare parts, fuel, and tools.

Gather Your Team

TESTING YOUR UTV

When it comes to being a top competitor in any series, practice makes perfect, and there is no substitute for seat time. In order to be a successful racer, comfortability and familiarity with your car is everything.

Pre-running the track/course ahead of the race will help you to get a good feel for the car’s capability and responsiveness before the race. You’ll want to watch what speeds and lines you can take in certain sections as you test your car.

supplies and getting ready to race UTV

SUPPLIES FOR COMPETION

Off-road racing is unlike any other sport in the world and doing it in a UTV is the easiest and most affordable way to be competitive at a professional level. We’ve compiled a list of parts and supplies to get you to the starting line. You supply the talent

What you’ll need to compete:

  • Roll Cage: Factory cages are only be allowed if modified or reinforced and at two points on the rear bumper or frame. Gusseting of the factory cage is highly encouraged. Aftermarket well-built roll cages made for racing are recommended.

  • Doors: Lockable side protection doors must be mounted so as not to pop open during racing. Factory doors with a secondary locking mechanism are approved.
  • Helmets: Helmets must be approved by the Snell Memorial Foundation with a Snell or DOT sticker attached.
  • Fire Suit: One-piece fire suits are mandatory. Fire suits must meet the requirements of race officials along with gloves and racing shoes or boots.
  • Fire Extinguisher: Portable 2.5-pound fire extinguisher must be readily accessible to the driver in every car
  • Ignition: The ignition switch and all-electric fuel pumps must be labeled and easily accessible from inside and outside of the vehicle.
  • Safety Nets: Approved safety nets are mandatory on all vehicles. There is not a better window net available for racing than PRP’s Window Nets.
  • Safety Harness: You’ll need a SFI approved five-point racing harness. PRP offers the best SFI approved racing harnesses, so choose your color and start racing with confidence!
  • Racing Seats: In long races, your body will be more fatigued based on the seat you are in. Running PRP’s custom UTV seats in your car will help resolve this issue.
  • Number Plates: Vehicles must display the correct vehicle number in the correct size and color.
  • Scoring Transponder: Transponders are often available for purchase or rental at the track with a deposit.
  • Lighting: Any race that has the potential to turn into a night race will require lights! We recommend Baja Designs for the best lights on the market.
  • Tool Bag: Having a tool bag that a codriver can easily access in case you can’t make it to the pits is essential. PRP’s Can-Am and Polaris Tool Bags are the perfect addition to your SxS racing inventory.
  • Recovery Ropes: When you’re in a bind, you’ll need a trustworthy tow rope and ratchet straps. You won’t find a better provider for recovery ropes than SpeedStrap.
  • Mirrors: A rear-view mirror is required on all vehicles. Mirrors are subject to Technical Directors approval.
  • Horns: All vehicles must have a loud sounding siren audible from 100 feet.
  • Wheels: Each wheel on the vehicle including all spares must have the vehicle’s number on the wheel.
  • Fuel Tanks: Safety fuel cells are required for all vehicles.
  • Wheels: Method Race Wheels are our go-to choice for racing wheels, just make sure they’re forged and ready for battle!
  • Tires: Tensor Tire!
  • Suspension: Shock Therapy!
  • First Aid kit: Accidents can happen at any time, so keep a first aid kit handy! We recommend Desert Squadron.
  • GPS/Radio: When you don’t know where you’re going and can’t communicate with your teammates, your chances of winning races are slim. If you want to be a top competitor, you’ll need this. We recommend Rugged Radios and PCI Race Radios to provide you with the best products for your needs.
